Why do Referee Checks?
As well as being an insurance requirement, referee checks give you an opportunity to confirm the character of the people you are appointing to leadership. Every referee is asked to confirm that the trainee is suitable for working with vulnerable people and whether they know of any accusations of abuse that have been made against the trainee.
How Safe Ministry Check does this for you:
Safe Ministry Check asks all trainees completing the leader training to supply the names and email addresses of two referees who have known them for a minimum of 6 months, one from within the church and one who does not go to the church. The system automatically sends an email to the two referees asking them to confirm that the trainee is suitable for working with children and vulnerable people simply by clicking a single button. The responses are recorded with the trainee’s details on your dashboard.
