Last week, we had the privilege of attending the Acts 29 Australia Conference at the Gold Coast, and we’ve returned feeling deeply encouraged.
With over 200 pastors and ministry leaders gathered from across Australia and a wide range of denominations, it was a gift simply to be present — to listen, to learn, and to be reminded that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves. Again and again, we met leaders who love Jesus, care deeply for the people entrusted to them, and are faithfully serving in ways that often go unseen.
It was a joy to share in conversations about safe ministry — not as a checklist or obligation, but as part of loving and protecting the people God has placed in our care. Many leaders spoke honestly about the weight of responsibility they carry and the challenge of balancing safeguarding with the many other demands of ministry. Seeing the relief and encouragement that came as they realised there were ways to make this simpler and more sustainable was a real highlight.
Just as meaningful was the opportunity to sit under the teaching throughout the conference. Ray and Jani Ortlund, reflecting on Ephesians 3, reminded us of how easy it is for our prayers to reveal a view of God that is too small. We were challenged with a simple but confronting question: why don’t we pray bigger prayers?
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” — Ephesians 3:20
It was a powerful reminder that God is able to do far more than we expect — in our churches, in our ministries, and in the lives of the people we serve.
We left the conference thankful. Thankful for the faithfulness of so many leaders across Australia. Thankful for the opportunity to serve churches in a small way. And thankful for the reminder that this work ultimately belongs to God.
Our prayer is that He would continue to strengthen His church, protect His people, and raise up leaders who serve with wisdom, courage, and deep dependence on Him.
If we had the chance to meet you at the conference, we would love to continue the conversation.
If you’re exploring how to strengthen safe ministry practices in your church, you’re welcome to sign up for a three month free trial or book a walkthrough with our team. We’d be glad to show you how the system works and how we can support you in building a culture of safe ministry that is clear, sustainable, and frees your people to focus on what matters most.
