We have made a recent change to the Safe Ministry system across all states. If someone selects that they are NOT working with children, the system will remove their working with children status from their profile all together. Why have something there that’s not relevant for you?
If your SMC account is synced with Elvanto, this will then (in time) remove their working with children status from their Elvanto profile. While this may not seem to make all that much difference, it will allow you to run a report in Elvanto that shows people in children’s ministries and who don’t have a WWCC status. This then allows you to ensure this is correct in your Safe Ministry Check account, updating their profile to say they are working with children, and ultimately ensure that you are protecting the vulnerable in your church.
When a trainee fills out their screening details, they will make a selection from the following options:
- Yes – I need to provide working with children check details
- Yes – However I have an exemption (this is only in some states)
- No – I will not be working with children at [church name]
The SMC system will only remove their WWCC status from their profile if they select ‘No – I will not be working with children at [church name]’
We hope this makes it easier for you to safeguard the vulnerable people in your church. We’d love to hear your feedback or questions, please email us at support@safeministrycheck.com.au
