Great news! When you receive an invoice from Safe Ministry Check, you’ll notice there is no GST added to our training courses. We love being able to keep costs down for your organization, and here is the simple reason why we can – in Australia, certain educational courses are classified as GST-free if they are considered a “professional or trade course”. This applies to training that provides a qualification required to start working in a specific field.
Safe Ministry training fits this description perfectly because it is an essential prerequisite for anyone serving in ministry—whether they are staff or volunteers. It is required by:
- Insurance Providers: Most insurers for faith-based organizations require this certification before workers can begin.3
- National Standards: The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations require that all staff and volunteers have the necessary skills and training to keep children safe.
- Professional Bodies: Groups (like the National Council of Churches Australia) and various denominations have set training standards that all staff and volunteers must meet.
- Denominational Policies: Many church denominations have their own formal rules requiring everyone in a ministry role to complete this specific training.
